We are so good we kill ‘em twice!

As reported in Jesus Christology:

“Following an apparent gaffe by their war propaganda machinery, the U.S. military was recently forced to retract a statement claiming that they had managed to eliminate a high-profile al-Qaeda leader in Iraq.

In his original statement to the media, Brig. Gen. Kevin Bergner announced the elimination of Kamal Jalil Uthman, also known as Said Hamza, thought to be the chief of al-Qaeda in Iraq military operations in Mosul. Kamal had been the architect who “planned, coordinated and facilitated suicide bombings, and … facilitated the movement of more than a hundred foreign fighters through safe houses in the area (Mosul)”.

However, reporters soon recognized the name and realized that the U.S. military had claimed to have killed the same man a year ago.

When alerted by the report at the The Examiner, the military acknowledged the mistake, albeit grudgingly as this email to Rowan Scarborough, the reporter who pointed out the mistake, indicates:

“You are correct that we did previously announce that we killed him. This was a roll up to show an overall effort against [al-Qaeda in Iraq]. We can probably do a better job on saying ‘previously announced’ when we do long-term roll ups to show an overall effort.”

Kamal Jalil Uthman is not the first al Qaeda operative to have been killed more than once by the U.S. military.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the supposed former leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, was killed no less than five times by coalition forces — first in the Sulaimaniyah mountains of northern Iraq, then the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, followed by a death during Operation Matador near the town of Qaim on the Syrian border, perished a fourth time along with his mentor, Osama bin Laden, in the besieged city of Fallujah, and finally in a U.S. air raid north of Baghdad in the town of Hibhib near Baquba.

Prior to his death, Abu Musab had also been captured no less than three times, and had managed to escape every single time.

In fact, it’s been recently uncovered through leaked military documents that the U.S. military is using Zarqawi as a pawn in their propaganda blitz.

You can say that he’s their poster death-star.

In light of the desperation on the part of the U.S. military to showcase and trumpet some level of success in Iraq, all this news don’t come as any surprise.

Because, really, when you think about it, what has the war in Iraq achieved, besides enriching the pockets of the oil magnates and military hardware suppliers in the US with dirty oil money gained from the misery and deaths of countless Iraqis, US and Coalition soldiers?”

Oh boy it’s fun to see how many times they kill those same nasty bad guys isn’t it?  “It’s been a slow news day and we haven’t done anything noteworthy.  Why don’t we drag out someone we’ve killed and kill them again?  We need to show we’re winning!”
